Yasemin Sabuncu is a hybrid media creative who utilizes such mediums as video, painting, graffiti, performance, graphics, and photography to create innovative works that can be unsettling, expressive and alluring. Her work has been shown across many galleries, festivals, magazines and public events.
Over her career to date she has won various Awards and been selected into various artistic programmes both Nationally and Internationally. She was even selected as one of the top artists under 25 Nationwide for the Noise Festival in 2003 when she was interviewed for ABC TV, Triple J and SBS.
In 2005 Yasemin's work was winner of the Melbourne Underground Film Festival for "Best Experimental Short Film" and was also selected as part of a programme representing Australia in the prestigious Video Brasil Biennial for Dlux Media under their best of D'Art Festival 1999-2004 tour that has been seen across the globe at various festivals. |

Yasemin has worked as a VJ with her original live video content at many concerts, festivals and events for International Artists and Musicians. She was selected to perform her live video work at the National Gallery of Australia for the “Bill Viola by Night” show last year.
As a filmmaker Yasemin has Written/Directed many short experimental films, music clips, and corporate videos across her career. She has been working in the Film and Creative Industry for several years and is establishing herself as an independent filmmaker.
Yasemin recently worked as a Producer/ Director of a pioneering web/cable/ vodcasting based TV Variety show with a difference called Girl Machine. She is currently writing her feature film script “Death Squad” that exposes the dark humour of societies obsession with celebrity culture, serial killers and reality TV. |
